- Hydrangea -

The name hydrangea comes from the Greek words for water-hydos and jar-angos. The hydrangea flower is formed with little star-shaped flowers clustered together, usually comes in pink, blue, white, and purple. Pink hydrangeas symbolize love and sincere emotions. Purple shows abundance, wealth, and royalty. Blue shows forgiveness, regret, and rejection. White means purity, grace, abundance, and bragging. However, the flower was first discovered and cultivated in Japan in which the flower was linked to meanings of apology and family bonding. Then the flower spread to North America and to Europe in the 16th century. Many florists now often use hydrangeas for wedding bouquets and also apology arrangements.
